2012 BMW 1 Series M Coupe: 445 Horsepower?
Those sneaky fellows over at 1Addicts are at it again. This time they've snagged screen shots of a BWM product listing showing not only that a 300-horsepower BMW 135is is on the horizon– no real shock there as they've churned out a 335is and Z4 Sdrive 35is.
The surprise here is that the 1 Series M Coupe — codenamed PYRAT — will have two engine options: a 335 horsepower mill for Europe and a 445-horsepower (!) unit for the US.
Wait…what? 445? We know full well that you can chip a 1 Series (or any of the N5x motors to 400 horsepower without much drama, but from the factory? What say you, loyal readers? Is the 2012 BMW 1 Series M Coupe really going to hit 445 horsepower, or is the PYRAT code likely just the M division and that this is a teaser for the next-gen BMW M3?
