Infiniti Evidently Working on Its Own Line of Performance Parts
Less than a week after Infiniti's declaration that it will introduce two new production vehicles at the annual Pebble Beach festivities in August — one of them "much more performance-oriented," according to Infiniti's Ben Poore – the sleuths at Autoblog have dug up trademark filings for a new line of Infiniti performance parts. The line will evidently be called "Infiniti Performance Line" or "IPL."
Infiniti officials haven't yet disclosed whether IPL will give rise to works models (a la Benz AMG or BMW M) or be more like the Lexus F-Sport line. If it comes to fruition, though, it promises to be an interesting development in the brand's future. A search of the filings turns up such tantalizing words as "turbocharger" and "supercharger," along with stuff like springs, sway bars, limited-slip differentials and sport seats.
We'll might have to move until August before Infiniti officials are ready to tell us what the Infiniti Performance Line is all about, but we'll keep you updated as we learn more. As for those two new Infiniti models, they'll go on understanding in October 2010.
